Milo helps you discover and connect with nearby users. We collect account and profile information, and (if you allow) approximate location data to show nearby users. We do not sell your personal data.

2) Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the Milo Android app (the “App”) and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

3) Information we collect

A. Account & profile information

  • Google Sign In UID
    Used to identify your account.
  • Name
    Set to a default initially; you can change it in Profile.
  • Gender
    Default “MALE”; you can update it in Profile.
  • Profile photo (Optional)
    Stored when you upload/select one.
  • Interests
    Dropdown selections inside the app (e.g., favourite game/food, introvert/extrovert, etc.).
  • Streak count
    Stored to support your streak feature.

B. Connection activity

  • Requests
    Requests you send and receive, and their status (accepted/rejected/pending).
  • Messages
    Any message attached to a request is delivered to the recipient.

C. Location data (Nearby feature)

If you grant location permission, the "App" uses your device location in the form of a unique geohash linked to your UID to find nearby users. This enables the “nearby users” feature.

You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings. If you do, the nearby discovery feature will not work.

4) How we use information

  • To authenticate you using Google Sign-In and maintain your account.
  • To store & display your profile information and keep it updated.
  • To power “Nearby users” discovery using geohash.
  • To deliver connection requests, show pending/accepted/rejected states, and display messages.
  • To improve app stability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
  • To receive reports against other issues to take relevant actions.

5) Sharing & visibility

A. What other users can see

  • Your name, gender and profile photo (if provided).
  • Your request message (only to the user you send it to).
  • When nearby discovery is enabled, other users may infer proximity (we never display your location to other users under privacy protection grounds).

B. Service providers

We use Google/Firebase services such as Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Realtime Database, and Storage to operate the App.

C. Legal / safety

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect rights, investigate abuse, or maintain safety and integrity.

We do not sell your personal data.

6) Data retention

  • Account/profile
    Retained while your account is active.
  • Location/geohash
    Retained only as needed for the nearby feature (we recommend periodic cleanup of older entries).
  • Requests/messages
    Retained to provide the connections feature; removed upon account deletion except where required for legal/security reasons.
  • Logs
    Retained for a limited period for debugging and security.

7) Security

We use reasonable security practices such as access controls and encryption in transit where supported by our infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

8) Your rights & choices

  • Correction/Updation
    Update or Correct your profile details in the App.
  • Deletion
    Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent
    For example, disable location permission in device settings.
  • Reporting
    Report about other users if they are misrepresenting the gender or using fake account or other relevant reasons in the App.

9) Account deletion

In the app, click on Profile Delete Account to request deletion of your account. To withdraw, within 90 days, please email us at [email protected] to instruct us to cancel deletion of your account or else, after 90 days, upon verification, we delete your account data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

All of your data (including, but not limited to, uid, name, profile picture, connections, streaks, etc) will be completely deleted from our servers.

10) Children privacy

The App is not intended for users under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can take appropriate action.


Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the dates shown at the top.
